Unherd and Tulsea in association with Karan Gour are offering a few students (13-20-year-olds) a hands-on certified opportunity to learn the skills of becoming a Sound Designer. This is a ‘project focussed’ course where you get to work on an industry-relevant project, with your mentor that provides you with career guidance along the way.

Pick-up the skills of using Ableton Live software used by industry professionals for your music creation and performance. Master using the effects, instruments, sounds, and creative features – everything you need to make any kind of music.

Live Online Classes taught by Sound Designer, Karan Gour

Get into the details

Improve your Live music-making skills from the comfort of your own workstation. Master the creative tools and techniques required to compose, record, remix, improvise, produce, and edit your musical ideas using Ableton’s Live audio and MIDI sequencing software, a sequencer you can play like an instrument.

Interact with experienced professional, Karan Gour to ask about the work-life of a sound designer, courses/colleges to apply for, pay scale, work expectations, and much more.

Sound Design

Take a look at behind-the-scenes of movies to understand the creative process that goes behind creating a good soundscape starting from dialogues, foley to mixing, and feedback.

Software & Tools

Create your own musicals and apply them to your own compositions using software synthesizers. You will explore the audio effects in software like Digital Audio Workstation and Ableton lite to create your own patches while receiving feedback from Karan Gour himself.

Studio Design

What should your sound studio be like? Equip yourself with the best practices and techniques as your mentor, Karan Gour walks you through the essential and process of setting up a professional studio.

This specialized program, curated by sound designer, Karan Gour himself aims to equip students with the tools and techniques required to create professional-sounding music. About a career in Sound Design with your mentor

Know your Mentor

Karan Gour

A sound designer and music composer, Karan Gour is widely recognized for creating enthralling soundscapes. After he completed his university, Karan enrolled in a sound engineering course to pursue his passion for sound and music. He has scored for critically acclaimed films like NH10, Phobia, and Titli for which the latter went on to win the ‘Best First Foreign Film Award’ by the French Syndicate of Cinema Critics and was also premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. Karan wrote, directed, edited, and scored the film, Corrode (Kshay) which premiered at the Chicago International Film Festival and went on to win several international awards like the Jury Award at the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles.

His vast experience in the film industry has inspired him to educate future sound designers, music composers, and sound artists about a career in Sound designing. In this one-of-a-kind session, Karan plans to share his knowledge and learnings online with a few students (13-20-year-olds) – an experience Karan wishes he had when in school.

What is the program fee?
The fee for the certified Mentorship in Sound Design is Rs. 40,000/-. A 100% scholarship will be awarded to a student based on financial need and genuine interest in the program. The decision on scholarship solely lies on the selection team. For more details on financial help, please write to: contact@unherd.in.
Why is there a fee?
This mentorship is an exclusive mentorship with a maximum of 20 students per class, made better through online delivery and an intensive curriculum. A minimal fee is charged to sustain ourselves, pay our staff for the maintenance of our organization, and to the mentors who invest significant effort and time in conducting personalized training with you.
Can I pay the fee in instalments?
Yes. You can pay the fee in two installments – 50% before the Foundation course begins and 50% before the advanced course begins.
What is the duration of the program?

Mentorship will be planned in the month of June-July 2021. Exact dates and timings to be announced soon once 20 students are confirmed for the class. The total duration of the mentorship program in class will be 5 months.

Do you offer scholarships?
