An after-school program by SSERD and Unherd India to introduce pre-college girls (14-to-18-year-olds) to careers in space science and technology.

What if she could be the one to send a rover on the moon or be an astronaut to research about space? When we introduce girls to careers in aerospace technology at an early age – we build a pipeline of future women astronauts, space researchers, and tech innovators.

Mentorship Duration: 8 Sessions, 90 minutes each

Dates and Timings: January 8th to February 2nd,
every Wednesday and Saturday, 6 PM to 7:30 PM IST.

Certified Program Fee: Rs. 6250/- (All Inclusive)

About GirlsInSpace

GirlsInSpace is a one month virtual mentoring program for pre-college girls (13-to-18-year-olds) that wonder about going to space, becoming an astronaut or simply curious about a career in aerospace. Participants learn the challenges and opportunities in the space domain, meet experienced professionals, and exclusively get to work on a space-related research project with industry experts that truly gives them an online hands-on learning experience.

Introduction

Get introduced to Space Science that shows how simple physical principles can be used to learn about the interstellar medium, and the universe.

Nikhitha C is an Indian based Space Enthusiast, Dr. Kalpana Chawla Scholar from International Space University, Motivational Speaker, and a Social Impact Entrepreneur. She is a so-called mogul for her dedication and passion for space and STEM education.

She is the co-founder of Society for Space Education Research and Development (SSERD) with a mission to open a space frontier to all by promoting Space Education among the community and prepare the young generation for the Space Revolution. Also, she was the KWAA Youth Icon of 2019 for her outstanding work at inspiring students in STEAM and Space.​

When is the GirlsInSpace Mentorship?

GirlsInSpace is an after-school online program scheduled from January 8th, 2022 to February 2nd, 2022, every Wednesday and Saturday from 6 PM to 7:30 PM IST.

How much does it cost?

The certified Mentorship costs Rs. 6250/-.  A 100% scholarship will be awarded to a student based on financial need and genuine interest in the Mentorship. The decision on scholarship solely lies on the selection team. For more details on financial help, please write to: contact@unherd.in.

Who is eligible to attend?

GirlsInSpace is for 9th-12th grade girls based across the world that have a strong interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Maths (STEAM). Participants must be able to communicate in basic English, be familiar with technology and most importantly, have a strong desire to learn about Aerospace. Our past participants are curious, driven and ambitious to make the world a better place.

What materials or equipments will I need?

A computer, or laptop with audio and video capabilities, headphones (suggested), and internet access would be required for the sessions. Complete Program to be conducted online on Zoom.
