Wondering how to save money? How business investments work?
Join us for a ‘Certified Financial Literacy Program’ to learn such important concepts first-hand from a Chartered Accountant (CA) and a Venture Capitalist. This Certified Mentorship is conducted online and designed exclusively for students aged 14 to 20. During this program, students will work on practical assignments with real-life cases, teaching them the life skill of managing their own finances.

Session 1: Personal Finance

Learn the Art of Budgeting in your first session. Topics include income, expenses, savings, debt repayment, student loans and credit cards – topics that will help you to make informed financial decisions in the long run.

Session 2: Introduction to Accounting

Start with the basics of Accounting with case-based examples that will set a solid foundation for building your knowledge in Finance. 

Session 3: Savings and Investments

Our student’s favourite session! Here students learn topics ranging from investing, and savings to the power of compound interest. Get introduced to topics on fixed vs variable income, stocks, bonds and more.

Session 4: Introduction to Accounting Terms

Is there any difference between Finance and Accounting? Get to know in this session as your new mentor teaches you accounting concepts and introduces you to key accounting terms. Moreover, you get to see an overview of the different types of business organisations that entrepreneurs can choose from to setup their venture.

Session 5: Career in Investment Banking

What does it take to become an Investment Banker? Get to know firsthand from a former professional investment banker, Keshav Bagri himself. Here you will also be introduced to topics on IPO, Mergers & Acquisitions, Stocks and Bonds. If you are curious about a Career in Investment Banking, this session is not to be missed! 

Session 6: Accounting Transactions

Master the concept of recording transactions, a vital skill often tested in accounting and finance interviews. Benefit from expert guidance by a Chartered Accountant (CA) who teaches with engaging exercises and real-world cases to simplify this complex topic. 

Session 7: How does Venture Capital work?

Curious about how startup funding works? What do different funding stages like Angel, Series A & B mean? Using a company case study learn the evolution of various stages of venture capital and discover how entrepreneurs can scale their ventures effectively.

Session 8: Balance sheet and P&L

In this session, we dive into the critical aspects of Balance Sheets and Profit & Loss Statements, equipping students with the financial acumen necessary to navigate the complexities of business and finance with confidence. If you someday plan to start your own business or work in finance, this session is important for you!

Session 9: Career in Finance & Accounting

How to become a CA? What other career options are there besides banking and accounting? Get all your doubts answered about a Career in Finance and Accounting from a Chartered Accountant (CA), Ankit Bohra himself. If you need career guidance to navigate your professional path, this session is for you. 

What will I Learn?

This is an intensive mentoring program for students (ages 14 to 20) who wish to learn financial skills regardless of their career interests. Participants will also learn to read financial statements, analyze startup funding, understand venture capital and build a strong foundation in finance. The curriculum is curated by experienced finance professionals who plan on helping students make informed financial decisions in their future – a live mentoring experience not typically found in school or college curricula!

Meet your mentors

 

Ankit Bohra

A Chartered Accountant (AIR 28) and commerce graduate, Ankit Bohra, has more than five years of experience in the field of accounting and finance. He has worked with one of the big four accounting companies in the past, where he has audited books of accounts for various MNC clients. Currently, Ankit is working with one of the largest employee-owned companies in the world, Mott Macdonald.

Keshav Bagri

Keshav is part of the investing team at Bertelsmann India Investments which is one of the largest corporate VC’s in India with an active AuM of $300m+. At Bartelsmann India, Keshav looks after investments in FinTech, Web 3, Enterprise SaaS and AgriTech. He has led investments in Vymo, Bijak and Skeps. Select portfolio companies which he manages include Rupeek, Lendingkart, Agrostar, and Treebo

Previously Keshav was part of the investing team at Acumen Fund, an early-stage impact fund, and led investments in Haqdarshak (B2B SaaS), Promethean Power (Logitech), and S4S Technologies (AgriTech). He is also part of the Founding Team of AJuniorVC where the team aspires to build India’s most loved content platform on startups and entrepreneurship. It currently has 25K+ members and a Slack community of 5K+ members. Previously Keshav has worked at Goldman Sachs as an Investment Banking Analyst and as a Strategy Analyst at The Smart Cube where he catered to Fortune 500/ PE/ VC clients.

Keshav holds an MBA degree from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (Batch of 2018) where he interned with The Boston Consulting Group during his summers. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Studies from the College of Business Studies, DU where he was the Gold Medalist in his batch.

In his spare time, Keshav loves to read books, listen to podcasts, write articles, watch movies, and play volleyball. He also loves to travel and aspires to undertake a yearlong round-the-world trip someday.

How much does the program cost?

The Certified Mentoring Program costs Rs. 7500/-.  A 100% scholarship will be awarded to a student based on financial need and genuine interest in the program. The scholarship decision solely lies on the selection team. For more details on financial help, please write to: contact@unherd.in.

Why is there a fee?
This mentorship is an exclusive mentorship with a maximum of 20 students per class, made better through online delivery and an intensive curriculum. A minimal fee is charged to sustain ourselves, pay our staff for the maintenance of our organization, and to the mentors who invest significant effort and time in conducting personalized training with you.
What is the duration of the program?

The Financial Literacy Program is planned online from May 25 to June 23, every Saturday (3 PM to 4:30 PM IST) and Sunday (11:00 AM to 12:30 PM IST).

Do you offer scholarships?
