Unherd India is offering a Certified Finance Program for a few students (14-to-20-year-olds) to learn finance and accounting concepts from experienced Chartered Accountant (CA), and Venture Capitalist (VC) who share their learnings and knowledge with you. Join the live Classes, work on practical assignments and cases while you learn the life-skill of managing your personal finances. Student selection based on the application and phone interview round.

Program Duration: 9 Online Mentoring Sessions, 90 minutes each.

Session 1: Personal Finance

Managing Personal Finances – Art of Budgeting (Income, expenses, saving, debt repayment, student loans, credit cards).

Session 2: Introduction to Accounting

Background of accounting. What is accounting. Purpose of accounting with case based examples.

Session 3: Savings and Investments

Saving and Investing (Understand different asset classes – RE, Fixed Income, Bullion, Stocks), Power of compound interests.

Session 4: Introduction to Accounting Terms

Difference between Finance and accounting. Accounting concepts. Introduction to accounting terms. Type of business organisations.

Session 5: Career in Investment Banking

Investment Banking – What is it, how to become an I Banker, M&A, IPO.

Session 6: Accounting Transactions

Recording transactions and rules with exercises.

Session 7 : How Venture Capital works

Funding a company (Various stages- Angel, VC, PE, IPO) Using a company case study learn the evolution of various stages.

Session 8: Balnce sheet and P&L

Balance sheet and P&L Statement.

Session 9: Business Finance and Career in Commerce

Career opportunities with Salary expectation in Commerce.

What will I Learn?

This is an intensive program for those who wish to have financial knowledge. Students will learn to read financial statements, chalk out models, and build a strong foundation in accounting with an end goal to learn about a career in finance. The curriculum is specially curated by the experienced professionals who plan on helping students make an informed career decision through practical assignments, case studies, and real-world examples – a mentoring experience not typically found in high-school or college curriculum!

Ankit Bohra

A Chartered Accountant (AIR 28) and commerce graduate, Ankit Bohra, has more than five years of experience in the field of accounting and finance. He has worked with one of the big four accounting companies in the past, where he has audited books of accounts for various MNC clients. Currently, Ankit is working with one of the largest employee-owned companies in the world, Mott Macdonald.

Keshav Bagri

Keshav is part of the investing team at Bertelsmann India Investments which is one of the largest corporate VC’s in India with an active AuM of $300m+. At Bartelsmann India, Keshav looks after investments in FinTech, Web 3, Enterprise SaaS and AgriTech. He has led investments in Vymo, Bijak and Skeps. Select portfolio companies which he manages include Rupeek, Lendingkart, Agrostar, and Treebo

Previously Keshav was part of the investing team at Acumen Fund, an early-stage impact fund, and led investments in Haqdarshak (B2B SaaS), Promethean Power (Logitech), and S4S Technologies (AgriTech). He is also part of the Founding Team of AJuniorVC where the team aspires to build India’s most loved content platform on startups and entrepreneurship. It currently has 25K+ members and a Slack community of 5K+ members. Previously Keshav has worked at Goldman Sachs as an Investment Banking Analyst and as a Strategy Analyst at The Smart Cube where he catered to Fortune 500/ PE/ VC clients.

Keshav holds an MBA degree from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (Batch of 2018) where he interned with The Boston Consulting Group during his summers. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Studies from the College of Business Studies, DU where he was the Gold Medalist in his batch.

In his spare time, Keshav loves to read books, listen to podcasts, write articles, watch movies, and play volleyball. He also loves to travel and aspires to undertake a yearlong round-the-world trip someday.

How much does the course cost?

The Certified Mentoring Program costs Rs. 7500/-.  A 100% scholarship will be awarded to a student based on financial need and genuine interest in the program. The decision on scholarship solely lies on the selection team. For more details on financial help, please write to: contact@unherd.in.

Why is there a fee?
This mentorship is an exclusive mentorship with a maximum of 20 students per class, made better through online delivery and an intensive curriculum. A minimal fee is charged to sustain ourselves, pay our staff for the maintenance of our organization, and to the mentors who invest significant effort and time in conducting personalized training with you.
What is the duration of the program?
The Financial Skills Mentorship Program will have 9 Live Online Training Sessions, spread across a period of one month. Each session will be for 60 to 90 mins each. The program is planned from April 22 to May 28, every Saturday (3 PM to 4:30 PM IST) and Sunday (11:00 AM to 12:30 PM IST).
