The Law & Legal Studies Mentorship Program is offering a few high-schoolers (13-to-18-year-olds) in India the unique opportunity to learn online about the lucrative profession of law first-hand from an experienced lawyer, Ms. Umang Pathak. Make an informed career choice about law, meet like-minded students, and strengthen your college application with an experience certificate upon program completion.

What will I Learn?

Mentor Umang Pathak, offers career guidance for pre-college students (13-to-18-year-olds) that are curious about a law career in India. She has designed an engaging curriculum to make students aware of the work that lawyers do, and the skillsets needed to be successful in the field. As part of the online program, you get to participate in a moot courtroom, learn how to draft legal notice, and work on an independent legal project.

Understand the step-by-step approach to moot problems and researching with purpose along with preparing for oral arguments in front of a legal panel.

Foundation

Get insights on Indian laws, ethical issues and how the Supreme Court of India interprets the Indian Constitution.

Interact with an experienced panel from different reputed Law Schools who talk about their journey and experiences to introduce you to the world of law.

Case Studies

Meet your Mentor

Umang Pathak

Umang Pathak is a lawyer, a social worker, a teacher, a student, a mentor and a mentee. With experience spanning around two decades, her work experience has traversed many worlds. In furtherance to her belief that for a sustainable world we need sustainable business and sustainable leadership, Umang has founded ESG Advisory Services to focus on reformation, transformation and action of leadership and governance and advising Indian (private and public) and multinational companies, foundations, trusts, NGOs and their leadership though their journeys towards

As National President, Legal Awareness Council (NLAC), Women’s Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (WICCI), she focuses on collaborating and engaging with corporations, government and other stakeholders to promote women empowerment including women entrepreneurship. She is also member of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) Ladies Organisation (FLO) and FLO Helpline and Advisory Cell.

As a social-worker she has been associated with many reputed NGOs (Pestalozzi World Children Society, Global Food Banking Network etc., Parivartan, Justice Sunanda Bhandare Foundation), citizen’s forums (National Campaign for People’s Right to Information), independent public interest litigators, National Human Rights Commission and worked with catalysts of their respective fields including the current Chief Minister of Indian capital, Mr. Arvind Kejriwal. She has worked on host of social causes such as resettlement of people displaced in Bhuj earthquake, rehabilitation of rape victims, campaigning for implementation of Right to Information legislation and other public campaigns such as Drive Against Bribe.

Umang is collaborating with Unherd to educate pre-college (13-to-18-year-olds) about a career in law and the importance of their role in Indian society. In this one-of-a-kind Mentorship, Umng plans to share her knowledge, skills, and learnings with teenage students – an experience she wishes she had when in school.

How much does the course cost?

Our certified Law & Legal Studies course costs Rs. 5650/- per student. Students needs to participate in the moot court, and submit assignments, to qualify for the certificate from their mentor, Umang Pathak and Unherd.in.

What is the duration of the program?

The Law mentorship is planned online on Zoom for four Saturdays, 2 hour each. Students need to spend extra time outside class to work on their assignments and cases. Fixed dates and timings to be announced soon once a minimum of 10 to 15 students apply for the program.

Why is there a fee?

This mentorship is an exclusive mentorship with limited seating per class, made better through online delivery and an intensive curriculum designed by an experienced industry professional. A minimal fee is charged to sustain ourselves, pay our staff for the maintenance of our organization, and to the mentors who invest significant effort and time in conducting personalized training for you.

Do you offer scholarships?
